Ballykinlar (5/1jf) was a given a well-judged ride by Eoin Staples to reel in Faceman over the last in the Tote Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan.

He moved ominously well in second in his pursuit of the leader and touched down in front after the pair completed their jumping.

Ballykinlar was driven out to assert by three and a-half lengths in the closing stages. Faceman, 5/1jf, was booked for second and was nine lengths clear of Swelltime (13/2).

Owner/trainer Donncha Duggan said: "He was a bit unlucky on his last visit here to meet a horse that was well handicapped.

“The horse that won the previous race (Thats All) was a few lengths in front of him last time in Cork, so the form is holding up.

“I know he likes the track and it was a furlong shorter than the last day (in Kilbeggan) which helped him.

“I told Eoin to hold on to him because he didn’t get home the last day here. He gave him a good ride.

“We’ll see what the handicapper does and hopefully he’ll win another one.”
