Ellen Construction Thyestes Handicap Chase Entries Out

Southern Vic heads the 47 initial entries for the upcoming Ellen Construction

Thyestes Handicap Chase at Gowran Park on Thursday January 25.

Last month's Lexus Chase fifth represents Ted Walsh, who won this race in 1991

with Roc De Prince, and is joined by stable companion Jack High, winner of the

Betfred Gold Cup in 2005.

Arthur Moore, who saddled Wylde Hide to become the only horse to win successive

runnings of this three mile stamina test in 1995 and 1996, has Jaquouille,

Julius and Well Tutored among the entries.

Race sponsor Murt Doran has Kymandjen, one of three Paul Nolan entries and

runner-up to subsequent Aintree hero Numbersixvalverde two years ago, while last

season's Irish Grand National winner Point Barrow also figures. Michael Hickey,

successful with Bob Treacy in 1999 and in 2001, has Ballistraw bidding to go one place

better than his game Paddy Power Chase effort last month.

Our Ben, a final fence faller with victory in sight at Thurles last week, is one

of four entries for Willie Mullins, successful with Micko's Dream (2000) and

another Aintree National scorer Hedgehunter (2004), while champion trainer Noel

Meade has six horses figuring at this stage.

The first of seven races is due off at 1.15pm with the big one down for decision

at 2.45pm.
