Elliott & Carberry go to War Gordon Elliott, fresh from his double at the Cheltenham Festival last month, was again among the winners at Aintree where Russian War benefitted from a cool ride by Paul Carberry to land Silver Cross Handicap Hurdle. The 16/1 chance came from last to first to land the spoils by one and a quarter lengths from Reindeer Dippin (40/1), with Wyse Hill Teabags (20/1) third. Elliott was full of praise for Carberry afterwards. He reported that the lightly-weighted eight-year-old has plenty of ability but can be quirky and ducked out in the past.
