Elliott & Gigginstown double up at Leopardstown After landing the opener with Generous Risk, Gordon Eliott and owners Gigginstown House Stud quickly doubled up at Leopardstown with Torpille Dagrostis in the 1888 Restaurant Mares Maiden Hurdle. The daughter of Cima De Triomphe had been runner-up in her first two starts over hurdles, including at Punchestown 13 days previously, and went off 4/5 favourite under Josh Williamson. Always prominent, along with market rival Alliteration, over a trip just short of two miles, five furlongs, she stayed on well up the straight to hold that rival by three-parts of a length. “She’d been knocking on the door. It was probably her race to lose, but I was a bit nervous running her back quick. The race kind of found us, more than us going looking for a race,” said Elliott. “She’ll definitely get a trip and she’ll jump a fence in time too. “She’s got a good pedigree and if we could rob a bit of black-type with her, it would be very important. She’s a full-sister to Itchy Feet.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
