Pour Les Filles made all for a poignant success in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Hurdle over an extended two-miles-five-furlongs at Downpatrick.

The 1/9 favourite faced just three rivals as Eco Pete was scratched. Bold Rhyme briefly looked threatening in second over the penultimate flight but Jack Kennedy soon asked the 'jolly' to go and win his race and he duly did.

The seven-year-old gelding went on by nine lengths from Bold Rhyme (8/1).

Gordon Elliott said: "It was a lovely opportunity.

"He hasn't been the easiest horse to train.

"It worked out grand (new trip), the race kind of found us rather than us looking for a race. I thought he was a couple of weeks off running, but the race found us so we had to run him.

"It is lovely that he won as one of the owners, Kieran T Byrne, passed away recently."

This brought up a double for Elliott and Kennedy who were responsible for Someone's Wish in the preceding race.
