Dee Capo fairly sprinted away from the last in the Ryans Cleaning Handicap Chase at Punchestown to bring up a brace of winners for Gordon Elliott and Jack Kennedy. High Class Hero raced prominently under Paul Townend and the duo attempted to go for home between the final two fences. Dee Capo was having none of it, though, as he came through for a scrap with the leader and led narrowly in jumping the last.

Once Dee Capo (12/1) touched down on the run-in, he finished with a real flourish to put four and a-quarter lengths on High Class Hero (10/3) with Drumgill another eight and a-half lengths back in third at 10s.

Dee Capo was highly tried after delivering in a beginners' chase at Leopardstown over Christmas. He has also won two races over hurdles and a bumper.

Assistant trainer Lisa O'Neill said: “Jack said he’s grown up a lot, and he was very straightforward.

"He jumps really well and handled that ground very well.

“He’d good form last year and won a good beginners' chase in Leopardstown. He was entitled to do something like that and hopefully he can build on it going forward into the season ahead.

“I’m sure Gordon will have something in mind for him.”

Kennedy and Elliott were also successful with Santo Sospir in race two.
