Elliott hoping Stark can be National horse Gordon Elliott believes Ned Stark could develop into a potential Grand National contender after snapping up the talented chaser at the Goffs Sale at Doncaster last week. The eight-year-old won once over hurdles and three times over fences for Alan King, including the Grade Two Towton Novices' Chase at Wetherby in January of last year. Ned Stark endured a largely disappointing campaign last season, but Elliott is hopeful he can get him back on track after going to £70,000 to add the grey to his team Speaking in his Boylesports blog, the trainer said: "I was at the Goffs Horses In Training Sales last week and bought a lovely horse in Ned Stark. "He has plenty of different options. He could go down the hunter chasers' route or he could be a horse we train for the Grand National, so there are lots of possibilities ahead for him. He's a great horse to have in the yard and hopefully he can be lucky. "I also bought Bless The Wings at Goffs and he's a similar type of horse. "If he's half as a good as him I'll be thrilled."
