Paddy The Hare will make a return to Market Rasen later in the summer after being ruled out of next week's www.thetote.com Galway Plate.

Foxtrot Racing and Dr Richard Newland's consistent chestnut broke the two and three-quarter mile track record at the Lincolnshire course earlier this month and was a 5-/ joint favourite for last Saturday's Summer Plate.

Assuming a prominent position, Paddy The Hare eventually weakened to finish eighth behind Bobowen and the race has left a mark.

Foxtrot syndicate director Daniel Abraham said: "Sadly Paddy hit a fence in the Summer Plate and has bruised a fetlock joint.

"He'll have to have a break so he can't go to Ireland, which is a shame.

"There is a Listed race back at Market Rasen at the end of September (28) and we might aim him for that.

"He's still a novice and we hope he can continue to improve."
