English raider Moritz set for Platinum

Recent Newmarket winner St Moritz will tackle Listed company in Sunday's Platinum Stakes at Cork.

The progressive four-year-old made every yard of the running in the valuable 32Red Trophy and Garry Coffey, racing manager for the owner Renata Jacobs, is looking forward to seeing him step up in class.

"He's a very nice horse who is on the upgrade. We were very tempted to go for the totesport Mile at Goodwood, but really our priority is to get black type for him and the family," explained Coffey.

"He's a very honest and genuine horse and I think he's just as effective over a mile as he is over seven furlongs.

"There are 14 runners in the race and they come round a bend, so we'll have to have a close look at that, but it looks a good opportunity for him."

St Moritz will certainly face a good test with the likes of Maybe Grace, Gan Amhras and Famous in the line-up.
