Denis Hogan is exploring spring options for Frankie John after his charge missed out on a trip to Cheltenham last week.

The Walk In The Park gelding had the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle as his target at the festival but a dirty scope ruled him out of the race.

Fairyhouse and Punchestown are now on the agenda for the grey, who was last seen finishing fifth in Grade 1 company at the Dublin Racing Festival, behind Doctor Steinberg.

"I watched the Martin Pipe and I was sick looking at it. He was meant to be in there and I was really looking forward to it,” said Hogan.

“He had a nice mark and it looked a lovely race for him. Monday morning he didn't feel himself, he just felt a bit flat, and I had him scoped and he was dirty so we couldn't travel.

"It was bitterly disappointing for owners and us, and I didn't even go over myself after as I was that disappointed.

"It wasn't meant to be, but there's Fairyhouse or Punchestown. There's a novice handicap at Fairyhouse and a Grade 2 at Fairyhouse, so we have options.
