Palace Episode will miss the intercasino.com Champagne Stakes at Doncaster after returning an unsatisfactory scope.

The Kevin Ryan-trained juvenile, winner of the Listed Acomb Stakes at York last time, was well-fancied for this afternoon´s Group Two contest.

However, Ryan was not completely happy with the Machiavellian colt and he will now head for the Group One Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket on October 15.

Ryan said: 'He was scoped and there a little bit of mucus. It was very marginal but we didn´t want to risk him.

'It´s something and nothing really but it is a Group Two and you need to be 100% going for a race like that.

'We will now wait for the Dewhurst with him.'
