Eustace Primed For Christmas Comeback

Dual Champion Hurdle winner Hardy Eustace could make a sooner-than-expected return to the track in the www.bewleyshotels.com December Festival Hurdle at Leopardstown.

Trainer Dessie Hughes was set to sit tight with his eight-year-old until the new year but is now mulling over the prospect of running him in the two-mile contest on December 29.

'We changed plans for Hardy Eustace this season and were thinking about waiting until January before starting him off, but there is chance that he might be ready to have his first run back at Leopardstown,' Hughes told the Racing Post.

'He has been on the go for six weeks now, but he has only been doing proper cantering for the past two weeks.

'He?s in very good form and looks a million dollars. I?m very happy with him.

'He might make Christmas, but if he does he will need the run. Everything is being geared towards a bid for a third Champion Hurdle.'
