Exeter and Yarmouth get go ahead in England Racing goes ahead at Exeter and Yarmouth this afternoon following course inspections. The ground at Exeter is described as heavy and clerk of the course Barry Johnson said: "We had 20 millimetres of rain overnight, but it has been dry since 5am and it is given to stay dry now right through racing. "It is heavy ground, we have taken out two fences and one hurdle and the groundstaff have moved over a mile of running rail to get over the worst of it - it's been a massive effort. "They will splash through a bit of water in places but it is perfectly safe." Meanwhile, following a dry night at the Norfolk venue, the Yarmouth track is described as heavy, soft in places. Clerk of the course Richard Aldous said: "All is well. We were dry overnight and are just forecast light, patchy rain later this morning. "There is a strong north-easterly wind and that seems to be blowing the rain away at the moment." Thursday's Flat meeting at Leicester has been abandoned due to "desperate" conditions at the waterlogged track. Wednesday's National Hunt meeting at Southwell is the subject of a raceday morning inspection. Officials at the Nottinghamshire track passed the course fit for racing following an inspection on Tuesday morning following a dry Monday with no measurable rainfall overnight. However, further rain is forecast. The ground is soft, heavy in places so another look will take place at 0600 BST on Wednesday.
