Exeter start off for Sire Sire De Grugy is on course to return to action in the Sportingbet Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter on Tuesday. Gary Moore's charge missed a potential reappearance at Chepstow earlier this month but the recent rain means he is set to return to the racecourse. Writing in his exclusive Betway blog the trainer said: "The plan is very much to kick off his campaign in the Haldon Gold Cup at Exeter next Tuesday as long as the ground stays soft. "The race looks the ideal starting point for him and, unless it dramatically dries up everywhere, that's where he'll start. If, for some reason, he wasn't to go to Exeter, I suppose we could find a handicap for him somewhere. However, if I'm honest, I'm not too keen to go down that route. "I don't really like looking too far ahead, but the obvious next target for us, after Exeter, would be the Tingle Creek at Sandown. That, together with another tilt at the Betway Champion Chase, is a long way away with (hopefully!) plenty of water to pass under the bridge before then." Sire De Grugy won the 2014 Champion Chase at Cheltenham before finishing fourth to Dodging Bullets when he returned to defend his crown in March.
