Well supported from 11/1 into 4/1 the John Ryan trained Eye Of A Tiger landed the plunge when holding on under J J Slevin to win the BOYLE Sports Home Of The Early Payout Handicap Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

Out of form since winning her maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan last August, the Lauro mare justified the gamble but not without having to work hard.

Mid division for much of the contest, the six-year-old made ground to go second after two out. Heading Fiveonefive at the last, she was strongly pressed by Eye Contact close home but held on for a half-a-length.

It was a third consecutive win in the race for trainer John Ryan.

"She'd come down a few pounds in the ratings, and JJ gave her a cracking ride," said winning trainer John Ryan.

"We copped on earlier in the day that you have to go wide, the ground is over-watered on the inner."
