Forty-four years after her great-grandmother Charmian (aged 62) won a Tralee bumper on the great Dawn Run, Gabriella Hill also claimed victory on Kerry soil when making all on Trubshaw (7/1) in the Killarney Towers Hotel & Leisure Centre Apprentice Handicap over one mile, six furlongs.

Twice successful under the 7lb claimer last year, the Sixties Icon gelding sported new headgear here and raced clear over a furlong out to beat Lady Plimsoll by six and a half lengths.

Henry De Bromhead, also successful at Kilbeggan this evening with La Cote Fleurie trains the four-year-old for the winning rider's father Ben and Miss K A Bartlett.

"He travelled really well and the first-time blinkers were a big help," said Hill (19).

"Henry does such a good job with them all and this is great. I actually couldn't pull him up and we did another lap."

Regarding her family's famous red and black colours, she added "Dad was delayed coming back from England today, so unfortunately missed the race. He'll be delighted as he bought the horse, and this is a great legacy to continue.

"Hopefully, we can keep returning the colours to the winners' enclosure."
