Faasel In Action At Ayr

Nicky Richards´ Smurfit Champion Hurdle hope Faasel will be put through his paces with a gallop at Ayr on Sunday, weather permitting.

If the fixture is abandoned, Richards will look to give his star four-year-old a gallop next week.

'He´s going very well but he could do with a blow-out,' said the Greystoke handler.

'Hopefully we´ll go to Ayr on Sunday but if it´s off, I´m going to have to go elsewhere next week.'

Faasel gained handsome compensation following his narrow defeat in the JCB Triumph Hurdle when hacking up by seven lengths in a competitive Grade One event at Aintree on his last outing in April.

The Unfuwain gelding has not finished outside the top two in his six starts over hurdles - and is set to make his reappearance in the Nerak Hurdle at Haydock on November 19.

Faasel is a top-priced 20-1 for the Champion Hurdle.
