Alton Bay could have his next run in Listed company after he turning in a fine performance in the valuable Irish Stallion Farms EBF 'Petingo' Handicap at Leopardstown on Saturday.

The Peter Fahey-trained four-times winner finished fourth to Silwana at the Foxrock venue, belying his odds of 33-1.

The son of Pushkin will stay on the level for the remainder of the season now and could be aimed at the Listed Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh on September 27.

"We were thrilled with his run at Leopardstown. He has had a bit of a mess of a season, things went wrong for him and it was a great run," his Kildare-based handler said.

"The Cesarewitch and the November Handicap are his main aims, but there is also a chance he might run in the Loughbrown. It's a two-mile Listed race in the Curragh in a fortnight.

"We will see what way he is in the weights and he might run in that. He won't run over hurdles again until next year."
