Fairyhouse switch date The Fairyhouse meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday 2nd November has been transferred to Thursday 22nd September 2011. Horse Racing Ireland today granted permission for the date change, due to the staging later that week of the Solheim Cup at nearby Killeen Castle Golf Club in Dunsany, Co Meath from 23rd - 25th September. The first race is at 3.45pm, and full details of this meeting will be published in the Irish Racing Calendar in due course. Acting General Manager of Fairyhouse Racecourse, Peter Roe said: “We are delighted that HRI has granted Fairyhouse permission to transfer our fixture from Wednesday 2nd November to Thursday 22nd September, the day before the start of the Solheim Cup at Killeen Castle Golf Club, Dunsany. "Fairyhouse has the strong support of Meath Tourism for this move, along with many local festivals and accommodation providers. We will target the 100,000 people who are expected to attend the Solheim Cup over the three days including more than 10,000 visitors from America alone." He added: "Our fixture on Thursday 22nd September should be a great opportunity to promote Fairyhouse and Irish racing in general and the admission for this all National Hunt card will be only €5, with free admission for children under 16. We hope that a number of the players and their partners will attend during the evening for what should be a special meeting linking racing and golf.”
