Fairyhouse target for Charm

Arthur Moore is targeting the €60,000 www.thetote.com Handicap Hurdle on the final day of the Fairyhouse Easter meeting (April 26) for his Cheltenham Festival winner What A Charm.

The daughter of Key Of Luck wound up last season with a rating of 105 on the Flat after a convincing victory in the Leopardstown November Handicap when in the care of John Oxx.

Owned by Chris Jones, a long-time patron of the Moore yard, she was out of the frame when highly tried in her opening three hurdle starts before justifying good support in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle at Prestbury Park last month.

The form of that race has already been given a major boost with neck runner-up Kumbeshwar pushing Triumph Hurdle winner Zarkandar all the way in the Grade 1 Matalan Anniversary 4YO Juvenile Hurdle at Aintree last week.

“The plan is to go for the big handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse. Hopefully she will get in as there will be a maximum field of only 16 runners. We will try to do Punchestown as well,” said Moore.

What A Charm won the “Fred Winter” off a rating of 115 but Moore views that form boost as something of a double-edged sword. “She doesn't have a mark yet in Ireland, and maybe that run by Kumbeshwar at Aintree was a form boost we could have done without. We will have to see what the handicapper does,” he added.
