Fallon injured at Newbury Kieren Fallon was taken to hospital after being injured in a paddock incident before the Bridget Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Newbury. Fallon was preparing to partner the Mick Channon-trained Ayam Zainah when Alioonagh got loose in the paddock and bolted. Ayam Zainah became upset as that filly ran by, lashing out and catching the six-times champion jockey. The rider was knocked to the ground and officials erected a protective screen as medical staff rushed to treat him. An ambulance soon arrived at the parade ring and Fallon was taken away for further treatment. Stephen Higgins, Newbury's managing director, said: "Kieren is conscious and is talking but he is in a lot of pain. I think he was kicked seemingly at the top of his leg, and he will be taken straight off to hospital." Franny Norton was attempting to mount Alioonagh when the filly pulled away, disturbing a number of the newcomers in the parade ring. She was taken to the start but was withdrawn after causing further trouble at the stalls while Ayam Zainah was unplaced under substitute rider Chris Catlin. Channon said: "She's an absolute pussy cat at home and would never kick out. She became upset by the loose horse running past and has kicked out and hit Kieren. It's unbelievable and it doesn't look good."
