First Gold`s Plans Disrupted By Weather

First Gold will definitely not run this weekend at Leopardstown in the Hennessy Gold Cup as his work has been disrupted by bad weather in France.

The winner of the 200 Pertemps King George VI Chase had been pencilled in for the Leopardstown showpiece or the AON Chase at Newbury on the same day.

Connections are now considering the Country Gentlemen`s Association Chase at Wincanton on February 15 for Francois Doumen's 10-year-old.

'He has been held up in his work by bad weather in France for a couple of days and won`t be ready for either Leopardstown or Newbury this weekend,' said Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus.
