Fitz Handed Star Ride

Mick Fitzgerald has come in for the ride on leading fancy Kauto Star in the William Hill - Tingle Creek Trophy Chase at Sandown on Saturday.

Second-favourite behind Moscow Flyer for the Champion Chase next March, the Paul Nicholls-trained five-year-old made his seasonal reappearance when runner-up to Monkerhostin in the William Hill Haldon Gold Cup.

Regular rider Ruby Walsh is on the sidelines through injury and Fitzgerald told At The Races: 'I picked up the paper this morning and saw Ruby had hurt his shoulder and almost by chance Paul rang me at the same time to say I ride on Saturday.

'You had to be impressed with his last run as he doesn´t have much experience over fences. To jump and travel like he did in such a competitive race first time out shows he has a lot of talent.'
