Florida Pearl To Miss Punchestown

Florida Pearl will miss the John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown on Sunday after disappointing Willie Mullins in a recent gallop.

The participation of stablemate Alexander Banquet in the same Punchestown race is in doubt.

Mullins was planning to give the Hennessy Cognac Irish Gold Cup winner his first run of the season in the contest.

Mullins said on Sunday: 'Florida Pearl worked badly a few days ago and when we scoped him afterwards he wasn't clean. He had a hard race in testing ground in the James Nicholson Wine Merchant Champion Chase and it took a lot out of him.

'We will wait for the King George, all going well with him over the next few weeks.'

Alexander Banquet bruised a leg in a schooling hurdle at Fairyhouse last week.

'It all depends on whether the bruise clears up and we are able to work him over the next couple of days ' Mullins said.
