Fly set for Leopardstown Hurricane Fly is to have two runs before contesting the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle next March, accoring to his trainer Willie Mullins. "I'm looking at Leopardstown (Leopardstown Golf Centre December Festival Hurdle on December 29) for the next run and then take it from there," the County Carlow trainer told At The Races. "I'll get two runs into him before Cheltenham at least. "He's got plenty of speed and his pedigree suggests he's got lots of stamina and he needs plenty of that to win a Champion Hurdle. A lot of two-and-a-half-mile horses win that race." Mullins also revealed that Quevega could bid to win the David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham for the third successive year without having a prep run. "She's been in pre-training and came back to me the other day, so at the moment I'm just heading for March and I'll do a few bits of work with her maybe in the New Year and see what happens," he said. "If they are good we might get a race into her before hand, if not we'll just look forward to March with her. "The David Nicholson Hurdle is the plan, that's the way we'll go."
