Found's foal flounders as Naples beats similarly-rated rivals Arc-winner Found’s foal Maestro Bernstein disappointed on debut in Listowel’s Tote Maiden today, with similarly-rated horses fighting out the finish and success going to Paddy Twomey’s 78-rated Naples (16/5), under Billy Lee. By Wootton Bassett and the second foal from top racemare Found, Maestro Bernstein (7/1) was a market-drifter and having raced mid-field, failed to quicken and finished well held in eighth. At the business end, Naples quickened to lead inside the final furlong to defeat same-rated rival Lady Lilac by a neck, with Joyful Princess (rated 77) in third and Gran Habano (76) in fourth. Twomey reported "Billy was happy although had a tougher passage through the race than he expected to have but the horse did it comfortably in the end. It was a tight finish and the horse pricked his ears when he got to the front, as he thought he had enough done. Hopefully there is more to come. "He ran well on soft ground at Cork last week and is a horse who seems to like those conditions. Hopefully we will have a good autumn with him. "That's my only runner here all week and it is great to give Claire Carroll - who lectures in Mary Immaculate College in Limerick, a winner."
