Frankel impresses in the Royal Lodge

Frankel turned in an amazing performance to land the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes in the style of a potential champion.

Tom Queally sent the Henry Cecil-trained colt from last to first in the matter of strides over three furlongs out.

The race was over from that point as the 30-100 favourite turned the Group Two contest into a procession.

Frankel, making it three out of three, came home alone, winning by 10 lengths from Klammer.

Cecil said: "He was very impressive. They didn't go very fast which would not suit him. He settled very well.

"He's been improving and ticking all the right boxes. It's just what happens on the day.

"The last two months he has just improved and improved. He has a lot of talent. The way he works, I don't think I've had a better two-year-old since Wollow. That's a long time, 35 years ago."

Frankel was slashed to 2-1 from 5-1 for the 2000 Guineas and to 7-2 from 10-1 for the Investec Derby Derby with William Hill.

"I don't believe in ante-post as a lot can happen between now and then. I question if he will get the Derby trip. The dam (Kind) was very fast and that side has come out a lot in him even though he's by Galileo," he continued.

"He has got a lot of class. He could easily be a Guineas horse and we have to decide whether to go for the Dewhurst or the Racing Post.

"It depends on entirely what he does from now to Newmarket and see if he needs longer. I would rather finish him a bit early."
