Fresh ground at Galway The ground has improved slightly on the hurdle and bumper track for this evening's meeting at Galway. The going is now soft on that track where fresh ground will be used. The going for the same course last night had been soft, soft to heavy in places. The chase track remains soft, heavy in places. Showers are expected this morning at Ballybrit but it is forecast dry for this afternoon. The Curragh reported this morning that the ground there remains yielding to soft after a dry night. The weather forecast is good ahead of the Irish St Leger meeting. The ground at Down Royal (race on Friday) is now yielding, soft in places (round) and yielding (sprint) following 18mm of rain in the past 48 hours.
