Galway Plate Day Pre-Race Information

Another record-breaking day is in prospect at Ballybrit for the third day of the festival with the Hewlett-Packard Galway Plate taking centre stage.

The official going on the hurdle and flat course is Good to Firm, while the chase course is also Good to Firm but Firm in places. The track was watered overnight. It's currently overcast at the track with heavy rain expected later today.

Mesmeric finished down the field in the 2mile maiden hurdle yesterday and burst a blood vessel in the process and will not take part in the opening race this afternoon.

Air Of Confusion is lame and won't run in the HP Imaging & Digital Printing Handicap Hurdle.

There are no non-runners in the third race (7f handicap) so the reserves will have to wait for another day.

Ross Moff coughed after finishing second in the 2m 6f chase yesterday and has been withdrawn from the Galway Plate. Wests Awake has been declared and will run with Graham Lee in the saddle. The second and third reserves will not take part.

Willie Slattery fills the vacancy aboard Vintage Port in the HP Ireland Handicap.

Saintly Rachel was declared in error for the HP Software Management Services Qualified Riders Maiden and will not take part. First Reserve Fayr Star will now run. There are no additional non-runners so the second and third reserves are withdrawn.

There are no late withdrawals from the HP Software Licensing & Management Solutions Handicap so the three reserves will not get a run.
