Galway preview The highlight on day two at Galway may be on the level, but there are a couple of quality contests over jumps to open proceedings at Ballybrit on Tuesday. Dual Grade One winner Guitar Pete makes his debut over fences in the Latin Quarter Beginners Chase. Sandra Hughes' charge was among the leading juvenile hurdlers a couple of seasons ago, scoring at the top level at Leopardstown and Aintree as well as finishing third in the Triumph Hurdle. The Dark Angel gelding is on something of a retrieval mission now having posted two below-par efforts when last seen in October of last year. He faces a couple of smart rivals in the two-mile-two-furlong contest with owner JP McManus represented by a strong pair. Barry Geraghty will be hoping for a big week in the famous green and gold hoops and he partners Hash Brown for his boss. The Michael Hourigan-trained gelding failed to make an impression on runaway winner Sizing Platinum at Limerick on his chase debut earlier in the month. A recent run over fences looks a big plus for him, however, and he could reap the benefits of that experience. Dermot Weld saddles Waaheb for McManus as the gelding makes his first start since last August. He proved a smart sort over hurdles without ever hitting the heights his bumper form suggested he might and is an interesting chasing debutant for the 'King of Ballybrit'. The opening Topaz Novice Hurdle has attracted another strong field and Willie Mullins' Long Dog looks an exciting prospect. The gelding made quite an impression when taking his Flat maiden at Sligo back in August 2013 but has had only two starts since. He split a couple of smart sorts in Marinero and Fine Article on his jumps debut at Fairyhouse last November and predictably outclassed his rivals to get off the mark over timber at Sligo just over two weeks ago. The five-year-old looks to have a bright future and could prove a class act in the two-mile contest. An interesting rival is French import Adimelo, who won a champion bumper in his native land, and looks sure to improve from his maiden hurdle success at Roscommon when he won despite running very keenly in the early stages.
