Genesis registered a second course and distance victory when making virtually all under Rory Cleary to take the Bar One Racing 'Bet 10 Get 50 Sign-Up Offer' Mourne Handicap at Dundalk.

Having just his second start for trainer Michael Mulvany, the four-year-old bidding to improve on a promising stable debut at Naas recently.

As short as 4/1 early doors, the gelding drifted right out to 12/1 by post time. Given that the son of Prince Of Lir was racing from 4lb out of the handicap, punters may have deserted him late on.

In front after less than 100 yards, Genesis soon led the way under Cleary. Asserting from over a furlong out, the eventual winner kept on strongly to beat Valiant Force by one-and-a-quarter lengths.

Mick Mulvany said: "I only have him six or seven weeks and I think he is definitely a sprinter. I'm still learning a bit about him.

"That's his ideal trip, I'd say, and he likes the fast surface.

"Hopefully, the handicapper doesn't go mad on him. At the end of the day, on his last run he was entitled to do that - he won his side the last day and he was just on the wrong side in Naas.

"We haven't really any plans made for him but, as I say, if you don't fire the dice, you don't get them!"
