Barry Geraghty felt Champion Hurdle hero Buveur D'Air was "dossing" in front at Sandown on Saturday.

Some felt Nicky Henderson's charge was not as impressive as he should have been in beating John Constable by a length and three-quarters in the Contenders Hurdle, but Geraghty reckons there was plenty left in the locker.

Buveur D'Air is due to complete his preparations for the defence of his Cheltenham crown with a racecourse gallop.

"I was very happy with Buveur D'Air in the Contenders Hurdle at Sandown on Saturday. It was very straightforward, he did all he had to do," Geraghty told his www.attheraces.com blog.

"Maybe he didn't look as impressive as he did at Newcastle or at Kempton, but he was just dossing in front, and I didn't mind that. That's much better than having him race keenly. He had lots more left.

"He is a horse who takes plenty of work, and Nicky said that he wouldn't mind giving him a racecourse gallop before Cheltenham. He's bang on track though."
