Grand National entries close today

Entries for the Randox Health Grand National close at noon today, with the showpiece race worth £1-million this year.

The race is to be staged at Aintree on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 5.15pm, and the details are as follows:

Entries Released: Noon, Wednesday, January 31.

Weights Released: Evening of Tuesday, February 13 at Weights Evening Reception staged at BAFTA in London.

First Scratchings Deadline: Noon, Tuesday, February 27. Details revealed 24 hours later on Wednesday, February 28.

Second Scratchings Deadline: Noon, Tuesday, March 20. Details will be revealed on the same day at the Northern Media Lunch staged at Aintree Racecourse.

Five-Day Confirmation Stage: Noon, Monday, April 9. Details will be revealed shortly after the noon deadline has passed.

Final 48-hour declaration stage: 10.00am, Thursday, April 12. The 40 runners will be known shortly after 10.00am. Later the same day, details of the four reserves will be available. Reserves can replace any horses from the 40 runners that are scratched by 1.00pm on Friday, April 13.

Distributed in accordance with Schedule (F)9.8.0 (Includes a tenth prize)

£500,000 to the winning horse

The second to receive £200,000, the third £100,000, the fourth £65,000, the fifth £40,000, the sixth £30,000, the seventh £20,000, the eighth £15,000, the ninth £10,000 and the tenth £5,000

Aintree is home to The Randox Health Grand National, the most famous horse race in the world which is the climax to a three-day Festival meeting in April every year. The racecourse hosts five other fixtures.
