Grey Swallow A Possible For Budweiser Irish Derby

Grey Swallow is on target for a pop at the Budweiser Irish Derby at the Curragh on Sunday.

Cairdeas, who carries the Presidential colours, could also take his place in Sunday's starting line-up.

Trainer Dermot Weld, who won the Irish Classic with Zagreb in 1996, said: 'Grey Swallow is in tremendous form at the moment and will take his chance on Sunday provided the ground is good. Cairdeas participation is still under consideration and a decision will be made early this week.'

Triple Irish Field Irish St Leger winner Vinnie Roe, who was forced to miss Thursday´s Ascot Gold Cup because of a slight muscle tightening in his hind-quarters, has responded well to treatment and could return to action in the Group 3 Sharp Minds Betfair Curragh Cup on Saturday.

'No decision has been taken yet, but it is a distinct possibility that Vinnie Roe will take his chance in the Curragh Cup,' commented Weld, who also intends saddling last year´s winner of the race, Maharib.

Weld has five entries in the Group 1 Audi Pretty Polly Stakes on the same afternoon and is likely to be represented by both Sunday Joy and Ivowen.

'They are my two intended runners and Sunday Joy is an exciting prospect as she won a Group 1 contest in Australia and is having her first outing in this country on Saturday. She has settled in really well and has shown plenty of promise at home,' commented Weld.

Either Proper Article or Ektishaaf will represent Weld in Friday evening´s featured Goffs Challenge Stakes, while he nominated the hat-trick seeking Man O World as the horse most likely to carry the stable banner in Sunday´s Group 2 Anheuser Busch Adventure Parks Railway Stakes.
