Griffin records first double at Bangor

Dublin trainer Patrick Griffin registered his first double at Bangor on Friday afternoon with Brian Hughes aboard both winners.

Sudski Star recorded his fifth win since April as he took the sportingbet.com Novices´ Hurdle.

The son of Pilsudski was reverting back to hurdles here after winning four chases in-a-row before finishing fifth on his last start at Uttoxeter.

Sent off a 9/4 chance in this three runner contest he hit the front before the second last and was soon in command, keeping on well to score by eight lengths.

The former Ted Walsh trained Never Never was sent off the 10/11 favourite but proved no match for the winner, finishing second under Tony McCoy for Donald McCain.

The once raced Heist completed the brace as he battled gamely to win the Derek Burridge Golf & Racing Trophies Maiden Hurdle.

This son of Galileo finished a respectable fourth on his debut at Perth earlier this month and he was backed from 13/2 to 5/1 on-course for this two mile one furlong contest.

He came through to lead on the run-in here and kept on well to score by a length and a quarter.

Donald McCain and Tony McCoy were again responsible for the favourite (returned 4/9)but Prince Khurram could only manage third.
