Grizabella made all and ultimately trounced her eight rivals in the Tote Guarantee Available On-Course & At Tote.ie Handicap.

A beaten favourite when last seen over flights at Cork 10 days ago, the Paul Flynn-trained six-year-old was sent off a 9/1 chance this evening.

Quickly getting to the front under Robert Whearty, the 62-rated bay was ridden from the two-furlong pole and soon extended her advantage.

Keeping up the gallop in the straight, she eased to a 10-length win in the colours of the GMW Aintree Ninety Nine Syndicate.

Making late headway, Lunar Landscape (9/1) filled the runner-up spot under James Ryan, while Brewel Hill (10/1), who won this race 12-months ago, was another three-quarters of a length back in third.

Returned the 5/2 favourite, Mythical Rock who was well-supported from 7s early, never landed a blow and dead-heated for fifth.

"I just don’t think she suits hurdling," Flynn reflected.

"She jumps well and does everything right. I know you think that a horse that stays this trip should stay two miles (over hurdles) but I don't think she does. She travelled well the last day but didn't get home.

"Her wind isn't perfect but there’s not a lot wrong with it either.

"Around here you are just filling up the whole time and I think it helps her.

"I don't know what the handicapper does now but she's obviously not improving that much. Ballinrobe can throw up results like that.

"I think the mile-and-three in Galway would be too far for her but she might run in it just for the day out. If there was something after it I'd probably prefer to wait."

STEWARDS REPORT

Nicola Burns, rider of Deuteronomy trained by R.P.Burns, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that her mount hung left.

L.T. McAteer, rider of Mythical Rock, trained by P.J.F. Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount moved badly in the last furlong. The Raceday Stewards reviewed the riding of L.T. McAteer, rider of Mythical Rock, in the last furlong and in light of the rider’s report were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
