The ground has eased slightly overnight ahead of the big two-day National Hunt fixture at Down Royal which features the JNwine.com Champion Chase.

The going is now described as yielding, soft in places, at the northern venue with further rain forecast for tonight.

Conditions at Cork, where the Paddy Power Cork Grand National is the highlight on Sunday, look set to be very testing.

The ground is currently soft (heavy in places) on the chase track and soft on the hurdle course.

Racing also takes place at Naas on Sunday and the going is good to yielding at present.
