Ground eases at the Curragh Some heavy showers yesterday afternoon and evening has caused an ease in ground conditions for this afternoon's Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes meeting at the Curragh. The ground is currently described as good on the round course and good to yielding on the straight course, having originally been given as good (good to firm on the round course). The forecast is for further showers, some heavy, this afternoon. The eight race fixture at headquarters gets underway at 2.05pm, and the Group 2 Keeneland Debutante Stakes is another quality contest on a very interesting card. Racing also takes place at Downpatrick this afternoon. The advance going is good to firm (good in places), with a six race National Hunt card starting at 2.20pm. Meanwhile the going at Ballinrobe is currently good to firm ahead of a seven race mixed card tomorrow evening, with the action beginning at 5.50pm. Alan Magee
