Ground key to Sandiva Irish Guineas bid Sandiva could attempt to improve on her ninth place in the Qipco 1000 Guineas with a run in the Etihad Airways-sponsored Irish equivalent at the Curragh, ground permitting. The Richard Fahey-trained filly won the Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket on her return but suffered a reverse of that form when both runner-up Euro Charline and third-placed Majeyda finished ahead of her in the mile Classic. Sandiva was beaten just under six lengths by winner Miss France, and Harry Herbert, racing advisor to owner Al Shaqab Racing, says a concrete plan has yet to be mapped out. He said: "Frankie (Dettori) said she just ran a bit flat, although it was not a really bad run by any means. She was just a bit flat for whatever reason. I think it's just one of those things, and we will have to go away and regroup now. "She is in the Irish Guineas, but the ground might be a worry there and if it was soft, she wouldn't run. "We're in no rush with her. She's not the biggest or most robust filly so we will just see how she goes, give her some time to get over her last race and then look at the options. "I certainly think she is better than she showed on Sunday."
