HRI announce contingency plan for tomorrow's Leopardstown fixture HRI has announced a contingency plan for tomorrow’s Dublin Racing Festival fixture, should the meeting fail a morning inspection. Monday will now be used as a back-up day for Saturday’s high-profile meeting, which has to pass an 8am inspection due to the possibility of waterlogging, with more rain forecast overnight. There has been 193mm of rainfall at the Dublin track in the past fortnight and there is the possibility of a further 10-20mm of rain on Saturday, with parts of the hurdle track deemed unfit for racing on Friday morning. Horse Racing Ireland’s plan to ensure that both days of the DRF meeting go ahead include the possibility of Saturday’s card being switched to Monday, with original declarations standing. Also, the scheduled meeting for Punchestown on Monday (February 2) would then also transfer to next Wednesday (February 4) with original entries standing and declarations to be made by 10am on Monday.
