HRI announce programme changes

Following the cancellation of Naas on Sunday and Navan last Thursday, Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) have announced the following race programme alterations: -

Wexford Saturday March 17th

The Michael O’Murchadha Memorial Handicap Hurdle (Race 48D) is now an extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (130 = 11st 10lb) and has increased in value to E18,500

The Arctic Tack Stud Veterans Handicap Chase (Race 48E) will now be run over a distance of 2m and 6f (originally 2m and 4f)

Navan Sunday March 18th

The Irish Stallion Farms EBF Novice Hurdle over 2m 6f and 110 yards (Originally Race 49C) is deleted from the programme

The Irish Racing Writers Kingfurze Novice Hurdle (Listed) over 2m (originally scheduled for Naas on Sunday March 11) will be added to the programme

The Toal Bookmakers H’cap S’chase over 2m and 1f (Originally Race 49F) is now an extended handicap steeplechase for five yrs old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lb)

Clonmel Tuesday March 20

This is a replacement fixture that was announced last week and the programme of races for this meeting are as follows: (Entries for this meeting close by 12 noon on Thursday March 15 with declarations to run to be made by 10am on Monday March 19th)

A - 2m EBF Auction Maiden Hurdle (from Naas on Sunday March 11)

B - 2m 5yo plus Mares Maiden Hurdle

C - 2m Handicap Hurdle (Rated 80-109)

D - 2m 6f Novice Hurdle (from Navan on Sunday March 18)

E - 2m 2f 130yards Handicap Hurdle (Rated 80-95)

F - 2m 5yo plus Handicap Chase (Rated 0-109)

G - 2m 7f 5yo plus Handicap Chase (Rated 0-102)

At the request of the Irish Racehorse Trainers Association, there will be an additional race at Dundalk on Friday March 16th which is an extended handicap for three years old and upwards over five furlongs rated 45-65.

This race will close for entries along with the rest of the Dundalk meeting by 12 noon on Tuesday March 13th with declarations to run to be made by 10am on Thursday March 15th.

The details of the race are as follows:-

The Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Handicap of E10,000

(Rated 45-65)

Of which the second will receive E2,000, the third E1,000, the fourth E500, and the fifth E200

An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards, rated 45-65, of about five furlongs

E70 to enter, E20 extra if declared to run

Penalties — (after calculation of the handicap)

Winner of a race shall carry 6lb extra for each race won
