The opener at Fairyhouse was the Irish EBF Auction Series Maiden, over six furlongs, and it saw Switching Sides just hold on for victory under Shane Foley.

The Kodiac colt, bred by owners Newtown Anner Stud Farm Ltd, was sent off Even-money favourite after finishing second, and a place in front of Gowran's opening-race winner Folsom Blues at the Curragh on Guineas weekend.

Having tracked the leaders, he led and went on over a furlong out but was all out to score by a neck from Just One Show with Trean finishing best of all to be a further three-parts of a length back in third.

Winning trainer Jessica Harrington was represented by Richie Galway who remarked

“He was entitled to win after a nice first run at the Curragh, so it’s just nice to get that done.

“We’ll look at moving him up the grades now and see if we can squeak a bit of black-type. He’s a nice horse, he won nicely and he ran a lovely race first time. Hopefully he has a nice future.

“He was giving weight to them. His form got a boost as well (in the first at Gowran), so it’s all good.

“Jessie seems to have a nice bunch of two-year-olds, obviously she had a winner last night as well and they’ve all run well.”
