Harry & Laugh both Greenlands bound for McGuinness Ado McGuinness looks set to be double-handed in the Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes at the Curragh on Saturday with Laugh A Minute and Harry’s Bar both being aimed at the Group 2 prize. Like many trainers, McGuinness will be keeping a close eye on the weather with an unsettled spell predicted over the coming days. “I’ve put Laugh A Minute into the Greenlands and he’ll definitely go. I didn’t put him into the (Sole Power Sprint Stakes) Listed race at Naas and I was a bit sick after the way the weather went. “We declared Harry’s Bar at Naas put when it went to soft I said we’d wait as I didn’t want to tear the guts out of him before next weekend. It will leave him nice and fresh. “The plan is that the two of them will go to the Greenlands. I suppose I’m lucky in that one of them will handle soft and one that handles it fast. “The forecast is unsettled but the Curragh can dry out quickly.” The Lusk trainer is open minded about plans for another two of his Stakes race performers. “Bowerman and Saltonstall could run for prize-money in the Tattersalls Gold Cup (Group 1 at the Curragh on Sunday) if it was going to break up into a very small field. They probably won’t go there but we’ll have a look and decide. “We’ve made an entry for Sweden for Bowerman but we’ll look at the Royal Hunt Cup with him as well. I’ve left it to the lads (Total Recall Racing Club) to decide. At least if it’s Royal Ascot they can go and see him. “Saltonstall just didn’t fire the last day (in the Mooresbridge Stakes). In fairness Gavin (Ryan) left him alone when his chance was gone. He gave a few coughs but we couldn’t really find anything wrong with him. “He pulled very hard the last day and went forward. He needs to be put to sleep and anytime he’s ridden with the pace he doesn’t come home. He loves to come by horses. “There is plenty of options for him as well including in Sweden but it’s just such a hassle getting there. The problem is that you really have to go through England as it’s the easiest route. “It cost us about four grand to bring Harry’s Bar to Lingfield (on Good Friday) when you include transport and staff.”
