A Year Older was tough off the front in Division 2 of the Tote Guarantee Handicap Steeplechase in giving jockey Ben Harvey a double in Limerick.

He was there to be challenged by a closing Cullenwaine and Stormy Master on the outer at the penultimate fence, but really warmed to his task in leading fractionally over Cullenwaine at the last with Stormy Master still there.

A Year Older (17/2) really showed his mettle in the closing stages as he grinded his way home and, in so doing, increased the margin to three-quarters of a length over Cullenwaine (11/2). Stormy Master (50/1) was beaten close home where he gave best to the winner by two lengths.

Harvey said: "It was a long way out when he fell the last day (at the fourth last fence in Down Royal) and he got raised 4lb for it, which we thought was harsh. We were a little worried about that and it was a good job he didn't get any more, as we might have been in bother.

"It wasn't the plan to make the running but we weren't going much of a gallop and he took me there. He jumped his way into it and it was a good performance. He stays really well."

Harvey was also victorious on Sporting Glance for Cian Collins in race five.
