Harvey takes full advantage of Rothwell’s Chance Jockey Alex Harvey continued his excellent recent form with a third win of Killarney’s August festival meeting today, as the 5lb claimer landed the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (div II) on Give Him A Chance (9/2jf). The six-year-old gelding had previously scored at Kilbeggan in June and today notched a second success, when arriving from mid-field to score an all-out head success over General Clermont, which had blundered at the final flight. Jockey Harvey was registering a seventh winner in nine days and today, Give Him A Chance’s trainer Philip Rothwell reported “we rode the horse positively the last day but he was just too keen. He travelled well into the straight then but didn’t get home, so I said to Alex to take his time. “He gave him a super ride, was very polished and that’s his first winner for me. “He is owned by two publicans from Gorey (John O’Connor and Michael Gleeson) who own two different pubs in the town, so normally they’re in competition. I have great support locally and it is lovely to be getting winners for local people.”
