Henderson baffled by lame Simonsig Nicky Henderson hopes to discover on Monday the extent of the setback that ruled Simonsig out of the Betfair Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown. The nine-year-old grey was found to be lame on Friday afternoon following a pleasing schooling session earlier in the day. That left the Seven Barrows trainer with no alternative but to withdraw Simonsig from the two-mile feature. "That was a bitter pill to swallow as it took a long time to get him back and we had him ready for this. It was brutal," said Henderson. "He schooled yesterday morning and everything was fine, then mid-afternoon it wasn't. "He is lame and we will find out more on Monday. It's hard to tell at this stage exactly what it is." Simonsig had only returned from injury last month when second over hurdles behind stablemate Bobs Worth at Aintree, in what was his first race since winning the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham in March 2013.
