Hennessy Takes Bet365 Hennessy was given a typically power-packed ride by Tony McCoy to win a thrilling renewal of the bet365 Gold Cup. The Carl Llewellyn-trained 13-2 chance was a distant fourth turning for home with Lacdoudal taking over from long-time leader Church Island on the run to the second last. In a race of changing fortunes, Briery Fox looked like landing the spoils after jumping to the front at the final obstacle but McCoy was in no mood for losing and galvanised his mount on the run-in to score by a neck. McCoy said: "I was just waiting for them to come to me and in fairness, I knew at the second last he was going to stay on. "Whether I was going to get there or not I wasn't sure, but I'm delighted for Carl as he's had a tough year and he's one of my best mates so it's great to ride a winner for him." Llewellyn said: "I thought he (McCoy) was beaten with more than a circuit to go but luckily had one of his good days - one of the 364 of them! "At the second last I thought he had a chance, but the rest of the time he never really got going. The rest of us jockeys could win on the best horses, but he can win on the ones who aren't - and that's the test." Henry Daly saddled the runner-up and joked: "I quite used to like that fellow McCoy! "We've run a cracking race and just got beaten. I thought we might have it coming to the last but once we were over it, I could see McCoy coming." Philip Hobbs, trainer of the third home Lacdoudal, added: "I'm delighted with the old boy and I thought going to the second last he might win. "He looked like he might pick up Church Island leaving the back and has run extremely well. "I hope to come back again next year as he does like it here at Sandown."
