Henry de Bromhead has yet to add the Irish Grand National to his wonderful tally of big-race winners and relies solely on Waterford Whispers in tomorrow's 500,000 Euro centrepiece at Fairyhouse.

The Kayf Tara gelding just scraped into the 30-runner field (the three reserves were eliminated this morning) off joint-bottom weight and will be ridden by stable jockey Darragh O'Keeffe.

One of five runners for J.P. McManus, the eight-year-old is a maiden after seven starts over fences and was a leading fancy for the Kim Muir Handicap Chase at Cheltenham last month where he was beaten a little more than 10 lengths when finishing unplaced under Alan O'Sullivan.

"Waterford Whispers ran well in Cheltenham and seems in good form," said de Bromhead.

"Looking at his run at Cheltenham (over 3m2f), all he seemed to do was stay on in the end, and while you never really know about the (3m5f) distance, I’d say he could get the trip.”

Waterford Whispers is a best price of 20/1 for tomorrow's highlight which is off at 5.00pm.
