High Class Coronation Stakes headlines Day 4 at Royal Ascot Homeless Songs is the only star name missing from this afternoon’s eagerly anticipated renewal of the Coronation Stakes as twelve high class fillies are set to do battle over one mile on the round course at Royal Ascot. Champion two-year-old filly Inspiral heads the market for what promises to be one of the races of the week. The John Gosden trained daughter of Frankel missed the English 1000 Guineas due to a slight setback and will have to bring her A-game if she is to maintain her unbeaten record here on her seasonal debut against a stellar line up. In opposition are the first two fillies home in the English 1000 Guineas - Cachet and Prosperous Voyage, the first two from the French Guineas - Mangoustine and Cachet, and a host of other high quality fillies including an unbeaten American raider Spendarella. Discoveries and Tenebrism, seventh and eight respectively in the Newmarket Guineas, travel over from Ireland but will need to up their performances to be competitive in this hot contest. The Commonwealth Cup at 3.05pm is another intriguing contest on the card. The six furlong contest has attracted a strong field of twenty runners with three from Ireland. Michael O’Callaghan’s Cornwallis Stakes winner Twilight Jet arrives off the back of a comfortable Group 3 victory at Naas and looks a contender. Another that could outrun her odds is the Ger Lyons trained Sacred Bridge. She won her first four starts last season before disappointing when sent off favourite for the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket in September but bounced back to form with a victory at Cork in May. If Sacred Bridge does run well in this Group 1 contest it will be a strong pointer towards the chances of Johnny Murtagh’s Ladies Church in the concluding Palace of Holyroodhouse Handicap at 6.10pm. Ladies Church was only beaten a neck by Sacred Bridge in Cork and should be suited by the drop back to five furlongs here. Dunlewey.org Elsewhere on Friday’s card at Royal Ascot Aidan O’Brien will be expected to bag a couple of winners with the unbeaten Meditate in the opening Albany Stakes at 2.30pm and Epsom Derby fifth Changingoftheguard in the King Edward VII Stakes at 5.35pm. Meditate won her maiden in good style on debut at the Curragh in April before landing a Group 3 contest over six furlongs at Naas the following month. After the Naas victory O’Brien earmarked the Albany Stakes, which he last won with Brave Anna in 2016, as her next target. Changingoftheguard has a quick turnaround from his fifth place finish behind Desert Crown at Epsom two weeks ago but his overall form looks superior to his five rivals and it will be disappointing if can’t add this Group 2 contest to his CV.
