Highbury See See lands tidy gamble on second handicap start Clearly benefitting from his recent handicap debut at the Curragh, the Andy Slattery trained Highbury See See landed some nice bets when staying on best to win the Golf At Gowran Park Handicap. Available at 8/1 in the morning, the Belardo gelding was supported throughout the day, eventually going off 7/2jf. Held up in rear in the initial stages, Andrew Slattery made ground to go second over a furlong out, before heading leader Washington Street over 150 yards out. Quickening up nicely close home, Highbury See See scored by one-and-a-half lengths. “He did it well. He had a nice run at the Curragh the last day and I think he likes a bit of ease in the ground,” said Slattery senior. “Hopefully he’s a horse for Galway. We’ll tip away and see where we end up. “It wasn’t the plan to be back so far, he must have been slow away. He had a good draw and we were going to try and make it but things just went wrong, anyway it worked out.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson.
